Making Memories At A New Location

Western Village is brimming over with memories. From antique saddles to unique furniture, everything at the eclectic shop has a story and represents a small slice of history.

Dick Schaefer, owner of Got Memories of Payson, stands in front of his new storefront at Western Village, 1104 S. Beeline Highway, Suite A.

It’s only natural then that Western Village would collaborate with Got Memories of Payson, a home movie to DVD transfer shop.

On Jan. 3, Got Memories of Payson will relocate to a room in Western Village, 1104 S. Beeline, joining old and new memories.

Currently, Got Memories of Payson is housed at a small retail location directly across from Western Village.

When Got Memories owner Dick Schaefer and Western Village owner Sue Malinski met, they realized they could mutually help each other in their businesses.

Schaefer is helping Malinski with her Web site (Schaefer also has a web development company — Payson Web) and Malinski could offer Schaefer a cool place to house his business.

Malinski has cleared out the “Spanish room” and given it a movie memorabilia makeover.

Schaefer said he is excited to move into the new space that hopefully will garner him new clients.

Schaefer transfers home movies on 8mm, 16mm, VHS, pictures, slides and camcorder cassettes to DVD. If you have a memory on a form of media, there is probably a way for Schaefer to transfer it to DVD or other readable format.

“This is a really joyful business,” said Dick’s wife Janice Schaefer.

People bring in family movies they have never seen and the Schaefer’s transfer them to DVD, illuminating a forgotten world of memories.
