Like the first flower blossom or the melting of snow on the Mazatzal Mountains and Mogollon Rim, the Women’s Wellness Forum has become a tradition to look forward to in the Rim Country. The 13th Annual Women’s Wellness Forum is Saturday, March 12 at the Payson High School campus.
This year’s theme is Women’s Health — it’s Not Rocket Science. While the keynote speaker has not been finalized, there are 12 breakout sessions focused on women’s health.
Using an “astronaut” theme, the sessions will run concurrently from 9:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The sessions include:
• All Systems Go with the health topics Protect Your Skin with Peter Zonakis; Tiny Astronauts with pediatrician Matilda Garcia; Headaches in Women with John LaWall, University of Arizona professor of neurology; and Breast Health Awareness with Sharon Carlson, a 20-year breast cancer survivor and co-chair of the Race for the Cure in Phoenix.
• Science of the Mind with Brain Gym, which will teach a technique to maintain a positive, active, clear and energetic life outlook with Christine Whitehawk; and Reaching Across the Generations with Jeri Byrne, in which participants will become aware of the way each generation thinks, reacts and responds to different situations and gain an understanding of how we communicate.
• Better Than Astronaut Food has the program, Fuel Your Body with Healthy Meals by Christine Bollier of Vita-Mart.
After the sessions, participants can “splashdown” at a luncheon and vendor fair in the old gym at PHS. The Women’s Wellness Forum is from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, March 12. There is a $10 registration fee and scholarships are available for those in financial need. To register or get more information, call (928) 472-2588.
