Falsely Accused

This past Friday night I was at home with my family minding my own business. My sons and I were sleeping by 9:45 p.m. My fiance was visiting our neighbors in the next building over. On Saturday afternoon about 4 p.m. there is someone beating on my front door. My fiance opens the door to see a Payson Police Department officer standing there.

Apparently there was a report made about midnight the night before regarding too much noise and slamming doors. The officer took us aside from each other and asked what happened. My fiance and I both explained that there must be a mistake because at midnight the apartment was quiet. The officer seemed to understand that someone had their facts mixed up.

The officer leaves and about 20 to 30 minutes later returns again. This time he questions some of the residents in the surrounding apartments. Oddly enough he did not question the neighbor of where my fiance was at about midnight. The officer then confronts my fiance again with accusations of domestic abuse. He offers his own opinion that we may need to seek counseling.

I am shocked and appalled at this kind of police work. There are real women in real danger out there. I am not one of them. The officer finally departed on the note that he would be watching my fiance. Where is our justice?

This is bogus and uncalled for. Something my dad used to tell me, Don’t assume, you’ll make an ASS out of U and Payson PD. Way to go rookie. Sincerely, truly sleeping.
