Almost as soon as the Payson Longhorn's nine game losing streak ended, another skid began.
The Horns put a crushing end to the dreaded streak on Jan. 29 with a 67-56 victory over the Snowflake Lobos in the Wilson dome.
The win improved the Horns East region record to 2-6, but the team remains in the East cellar behind fifth place Show Low, who is 3-7.
A day after the win over the Lobos, Payson traveled to St. Johns for a non-conference clash against the 2A Redskins.
After falling behind 21-12 in the first quarter, the Horns rallied late but eventually fell 60-55.
The loss to the Skins was the second in the course of just four days. On Jan. 26 in Wilson dome, St. Johns edged the Horns 43-40.
