Editor:
I would like to propose a four-day school week in the Payson school district. This type of schedule would have positive effects on the school district’s budget.
It would reduce heating, electric and water costs to the schools. Also, we would save on transportation costs by running the buses one day less. Parents could schedule appointments and family activities on Friday, and the kids would miss less school during the week.
I know a family in Colorado whose kids attend school four days a week. They are happy with the schedule. More employers of parents are also going to a four-day work week. Although it would mean that we kids would have to go to school for an extra day to plan lessons, grade work and do other things to prepare for school. Instead of cutting teachers and programs from the schools, let’s cut the school week.

Question of the week
Do you think new Principal Anna Van Zile has a valid idea in eliminating the Asst. Principal and replacing it with an Athletic Director position that would share her duties as Principal?
