I read with concern your description of residents of Tonto Basin trying to get to their homes on the East side, as if they were just a bunch of stupid knuckle-dragging backwoodsmen looking for a thrill, lacking the common sense to save their own lives.
Here is my observation. Try cutting off residents of Payson from their homes for a month, their only homes, and watch what happens. You will soon find that most of them will resemble their Tonto Basin brethren. Walk a mile in someone else’s shoes before you judge.
Completely commit to build the bridge you have been promising for three decades, and these problems, and the drownings, will cease. The law is often the fool, would you not agree?
