Rim Country residents were treated to a rare treat Thursday afternoon from a Medal of Honor recipient.
U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Robert E. O’Malley visited with retired military and their families at the American Legion post off Highway 260.
This was O’Malley’s second visit to the post in the past few years and all in attendance were delighted to meet and greet O’Malley for his service.
U.S. Marine Corps Col. Bill Sahno said it was an honor to have a Medal of Honor recipient visit.
“There is not that many of them running around,” he said.
Army Vietnam veteran Dave Reizer said O’Malley is “our reminder that were real heroes.”
“We hold the Medal of Honor as the real epitome of what people have given in service to their country.”
