Man shoots himself in campground

The Gila County Sheriff’s Office says an out of town camper shoot himself Friday night in a campground north of Payson.
Around 10:20 p.m. Friday, the Gila County Sheriff’s Office received a call that a man camping in the Washington Park area shot himself in the head over a dispute with his girlfriend.
Reportedly, the man and the woman began arguing and the girlfriend asked the man to take her home. Upset, the man shoot himself in front of the woman.
No other information about the man was available as of Monday.
Washington Park is located near the base of the Rim, at the intersection of Houston Mesa Road and the Control Road.
