It’s been a wet, cold winter — and we’re not complaining, but it is time to let some light shine; in fact, let’s make it a spotlight.
The Payson Roundup is shining the spotlight on the best of the best in the Rim Country with our annual Best of Rim Country awards.
This year, readers cast their ballots for the best in 66 categories from favorite places to shop and eat, to their favorite employees and public servants.
A presentation of the Best of Rim Country awards was made last night at the Mazatzal Hotel & Casino, and today’s paper includes a special section with the complete results of our annual readers’ poll.
The following businesses were included in this year’s survey: antique shops, thrift shops, grocery stores, automotive repair, auto parts, paint, hardware, insurance, gas/convenience, gift shop, tire store, bank, florist, pharmacy, financial services company, car dealer, home television/electronics, cell phone provider, jewelry store, meat retailer, health club, radio station, long term care facility, computer service store, health food/vitamin store and pet groomer.
Readers were also asked to name their favorite local music group or soloist, law enforcement officer, firefighter, barber, masseuse, town councilor, doctor, dentist, chiropractor, beautician, waitress/waiter, bartender, veterinarian, attorney and financial adviser.
Nominations were sought for best breakfast restaurant, lunch restaurant, dinner restaurant, restaurant for children, best sandwich, best pizza, best place for a business breakfast or lunch, bar/tavern/saloon, best steak dinner, best fast food, hamburger, Mexican food, margarita, cup of coffee, bakery and fish fry.
Top places were also part of the selection process: best hotel/motel, place to fish in the Rim Country, best hike in the area, best day trip to take from Payson, best place to catch up on gossip, best historic site in the area and best place to meet singles.
Readers were also asked to name the best nonprofit organization.
The Roundup offers a special thanks to all who participated. Visit payson.com for more Best of Rim Country photos.
