Police say they ended up arresting five teens at a house party last week for underage consumption while investigating a separate call of shots fired in the area.
Reportedly around 2:40 a.m., a neighbor in the 800 block of West Country Lane, called police because several of his outdoor lights had been broken after he thought he heard a gunshot followed by commotion outside his home, said Payson Police Chief Don Engler.
When officers arrived, they noticed the man’s lights, as well as two other homes’ lights, were damaged.
Officers knocked on the front door of 18-year-old Sean Patrick Dougherty’s home and Dougherty, along with a 15- and 17-year-old male and 17- and 16-year-old females came to the door.
Officers asked the teens to come outside for questioning and as officers were speaking with them, smelled alcohol on their breath, Engler said.
Officers gave each teen a Breathalyzer test and arrested each on charges of minor with alcohol in body.
Dougherty was also charged with contributing to the delinquency and dependency of a minor.
Police believe there were more people at the home, but they left before officers arrived.
Officers are still investigating who damaged the lights, but say the teens at the home denied any involvement.
Engler said the people who left the home earlier might be responsible for damaging the lights.
