Urbanization of Payson problems

Editor:
In a recent business column there was made a comparison between Flagstaff and Payson.
I must respond to this unreasonable speculation. In the first place, Flagstaff has almost always been about four times the size of Payson. Apples and oranges?
This article indicates that the writer would like Payson to become like one of the miserable places so many people fled from to get away from a rat race.
A small mountain town like Payson was a very desirable place to escape to.
Now we have an element that wants a four-year college and is talking about seven-story buildings. Why do they come here and want to change, for personal gain, what has been so magnetic.
This should not become a college town for several reasons. There is nothing to amuse the students and the makeup of the town would change dramatically. More police services would be required and our already neglected infrastructure will be in even worse condition. Maybe a seven-story building would help. A four-year college and high rise can do nothing but reduce overall property values and cause many other problems.
Stop this nonsense and save the Payson we all know.

Question of the week
Do you think new Principal Anna Van Zile has a valid idea in eliminating the Asst. Principal and replacing it with an Athletic Director position that would share her duties as Principal?
