Those wishing they could view the Payson Unified School District’s board meetings on television might want to start a collection can because it’s going to take some coin to get going.
Board members said they’d like to broadcast meetings on the town’s public access channel, but the cost has impeded the effort.
Superintendent Casey O’Brien said three options exist.
One, the district could purchase a high quality video recorder and tape its own meetings. Purchasing a recorder of the required quality, however, could cost anywhere from $1,500 to $1,800.
The second option involves paying a town employee to tape the meetings, which would also add expense to a cash-strapped district.
Finally, the board could meet in the town’s chambers. However, the board just spent $850,000 to revamp the old Rock Building into its district office, complete with a spacious and modern board room.
Board members agreed to table the measure until the district’s financial outlook improves. Member Barbara Underwood suggested investigating a possible grant.

Question of the week
Do you think new Principal Anna Van Zile has a valid idea in eliminating the Asst. Principal and replacing it with an Athletic Director position that would share her duties as Principal?
