School has been cancelled Friday in the Payson Unified School District.
The one-act plays scheduled to start Thursday evening have been postponed to Jan. 27 and 28 at 7 p.m.
Superintendent Casey O’Brien said the district made early bus runs for students in outlying areas like Gisela. Students living in potentially flood-ridden areas contacted parents or guardians Thursday to make arrangements for after school.
Even the superintendent was not immune to the unfolding weather phenomenon. O’Brien will be forced into a hotel Thursday night because his house is inaccessible due to flooding.
The threat of temperatures dropping overnight, along with the potential of slick roads, convinced officials to cancel school Friday.
