Students who won the Gila County Attorney’s Office “I Am Drug-Free, Because I Want to be A ...” calendar coloring contest congregated in the Payson supervisor’s office recently to receive their awards.
Chief Deputy Patti Wortman announced the winners.
“The children were so imaginative and you can see that they embrace a life that is drug free,” said county Attorney Daisy Flores in a press release.
Children were allowed to let their imagination guide them while coloring about a drug-free school and life.
The contest was a major success with many entries from students of all ages, says the attorney’s office. Its goal was to get the message out to as many children as possible about the dangers of using drugs, said Wortman.
The one requirement was that being drug free must be incorporated somewhere into the drawing.
The calendars will be displayed in the county attorney’s offices.
Members of the Gila County Attorney’s Office were the judges and it was a tough job and after much deliberation the winners are as follows:
