The Payson Youth Volleyball Camp, hosted by Lady Longhorn coach Arnold Stonebrink and several varsity players, tipped off yesterday with a morning and afternoon session in Wilson Dome and old Payson High School gymnasium.
The camp, which is open to players entering fifth through ninth grades next school year, wraps up today, July 2, with two sessions.
Stonebrink says he’s hosting the camp to give aspiring young players the opportunity to improve their skills in the off-season at a modest price. The camp fee is $30 per player.
The camp is one of numerous summer offerings that Stonebrink has scheduled for middle and high school players.
The program began in May with open gym sessions each Tuesday and Thursday evening. The sessions, which are held 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., wrap up July 8.
Other summer programs include an Excel Team Camp July 19 to 22 in the Valley, and a summer volleyball tournament July 24.
Also a pre-tryout camp for aspiring high school players will be held July 28 to July 30. The fee is $5 per player.
The annual alumni game and benefit steak dinner will be July 31.
