Macey Carlson just wants a touch of that pie ‘cause kids are naturally curious and just looking isn’t usually enough to satisfy one so young and inexperienced. Carlson was at the Farmer’s Market Saturday, June 26, during the pie baking contest that turned out to be a big hit with everyone, including the judges. See page 12A for a list of winners.

The Payson Farmers Market’s first Pie Baking Contest Saturday June 26 drew 14 participants and appeared to be very popular with shoppers.

The winner of the “Best Pie” award for her peaches and cream pie was Kristina Thomas, second place went to Doug Denham, and third place was a tie between Christy Garrisi and Larry Hanson.

The “Most Original” pie was awarded to Doug Denham, whose blueberry pie was “a piece of art and should have been on a wall” according to one of the judges.

The winner of the “People’s Choice” award went to 9-year-old Bonnie Lee.

Her apple pie received the most votes from the hundreds of shoppers who tasted, then voted for their favorite.
