If you have driven south on the Beeline, no doubt you have seen the rough sawn post adorned with elk antlers — this is the new archery shop in town. What better name than “Chasin’ a Dream,” especially when you enter the shop to see a wide display of the latest bows, hunting accessories, and trophy big-game animals covering every inch of the store? Being an outdoor enthusiast with a passion for bow hunting, I was like a child entering a toy store, wanting to touch everything.
This venture was a lifelong dream come true for Jeremy Ulmer, who has resided in the Rim Country for more than 13 years. He is the owner and on any given day, Monday through Saturday, he will be behind the counter willing to give advice or offer assistance to the person wanting to know more about archery equipment and hunting. Jeremy is a master technician and his business is equipped to handle various bow adjustments, mounting new sights, cutting arrows to the proper length, and even making custom bow strings. I might add, he can do all this and offer a friendly smile to the next customer who enters the store.
Chasin’ a Dream has a complete line of Hoyt and Mathews bows with a wide range of high-tech shooting machines for the novice or the more experienced hunter. Of course, I had to feel the newest models called the Carbon Matrix by Hoyt and the Z7 by Mathews. It’s hard to imagine, but bows seem to be getting better every year.
Adjoining the store is an indoor shooting range, which can be used any time during the day for a very reasonable fee. On Tuesday evening, an archery league meets from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. This provides a preseason opportunity for anyone wanting to shoot to improve accuracy for hunting season. Another advantage of shooting with the Tuesday night league is that true experts in the field of archery are often willing to give tips to the less experienced in attendance.
Jeremy is also available for private and group lessons that can be scheduled during the day or night at the indoor range. All ages and skill levels are welcome, as any tip from an expert can make all the difference in improving the accuracy and grouping of target arrows.
There is also a complete line of backpacks for every need in the outdoors, from the short, day trip to the extensive wilderness experience. Trail cameras, scents, tree stands, and target blocks are in stock and on display in the store, which is a tremendous benefit to the archer who needs the accessory immediately. If by chance Jeremy doesn’t have an item in stock, he can have it in three working days.
Chasin’ a Dream archery shop also operates an outfitter and guide service for the person who would need help on that next big-game hunt anywhere in the state of Arizona. If you haven’t stopped in, take a moment and say hello to the new owner, Jeremy Ulmer, of Chasin’ a Dream archery shop at 612 S. Beeline Highway. The fall hunting seasons are right around the corner!
This weekend, enjoy the Rim Country, God’s creation.
