The Payson Women’s Golf Association 18-hole group shined in the highly competitive Northern Arizona Women’s Golf Association seniors tournament contested June 22 at Flagstaff Ranch.
“Five of our eight women won honors in their respective age groups,” said PWGA member Claudia Bullard.
Karen Peterson played her way to second place low gross honors, and Shari Cody was first in low gross play of her age group. Mary Cain swung to second in low net play, as did Bullard.
Joyce Goff won closest to the pin honors.
“The PWGA name was well represented in Flagstaff,” said Bullard.
Also in women’s golf, members took to the Payson Golf Course June 22 and 29 for the President’s Cup, which is one of the association’s major tournaments of the summer.
Using net play scoring, Earlene Brewer was first, and a three-way tie emerged in the battle for the silver medal. Dead knotting were Lois Judd, Sharon Vaplon and Cain.
Karol Uptain, Goff and Peterson tied for third.
Next on the agenda, PWGA members will travel July 14 to Snowflake for a two-person best ball tournament.
On July 19, the members will be at Bison Golf Course near Heber.
