Another summer week comes, then goes here at HSCAZ. It’s been one of those summers so far with many highs and many lows. We tend to focus our energies toward the highs, because we are believers. You will often read that in this column.

We believe that the animals entrusted to our care deserve the utmost respect and all the love we can give them. We believe that our companion animals are an integral part of our personal journeys. We believe they all deserve a loving and forever home.

There is a poster on our wall and it reads:

WHY RESCUE?

I looked at all the animals in the shelter.

The cast-offs of human society.

I saw in their eyes hope, fear and dread, sadness and betrayal.

And it made me angry!

I said, “God, this is terrible!

Why don’t you do something?”

God was silent for a moment,

Then spoke softly,

“I have done something” was the reply.

“I created you.”

And we do have great things that happen here... COY GOT ADOPTED TODAY! He and a pal of his named Buddy went to a wonderful home where they will live their lives running and playing and being loved in their OWN home. If you would like to be a part of the wonderful experience that is HSCAZ, come and see us at 812 S. McLane Road, give us a call at (928) 474-5590 or look us up on the web at www.humanesocietycentralaz.org.

TALIA

Talia is a beautiful 1-year-old gray calico. She was brought in as a stray with young babies back in April. We spayed her and got her current on her shots, after she was done nursing, of course. This sweetheart is very outgoing and affectionate. She loves to lay in the window or in your lap while enjoying some quiet time or TLC from you. She is good with other cats and kids, but not dogs.

JILLIAN

Jillian is a gorgeous orange tabby. She was brought in as a stray in April and she had just given birth to five tiny babies. Once she was done nursing, we ran her through all the health tests and spayed her and vaccinated her as well. She is a gentle girl who is very easygoing, yet sweet and affectionate. She gets along with other cats and kids, but does not like dogs.

JO JO

Jo Jo is a big, handsome man. He was turned over to Animal Control, along with Whitely because their mommy had to move and couldn’t take them with. He is 5 years old, neutered, current on shots and has passed his health tests here. He is an easygoing guy who is happy when you pet him and enjoys laying around and basking in the sunlight. He gets along with everyone, but would do best in a quiet household where he can feel comfortable and come out of his shell.

WHITELY

Whitely is a 5-year-old beautiful white female with gorgeous, sky-blue eyes. She and Jo Jo were turned over to Animal Control by their owner because she had to move and couldn’t take them along. She is spayed, up-to-date on all shots and has passed her health tests. Whitely is an easygoing girl and would love to be the only animal in the home.

ADONIS

Adonis is a 10-week-old adorable kitten. He was brought to us in June after a woman found him and his two siblings underneath her home. A few weeks passed and, after he passed all his health tests, he was finally big enough to be neutered. He is up-to-date on his shots, great with other animals and full of energy and love.

LAYLA

Layla is a sweet 10-week-old beauty. She was brought in with her two brothers in June as strays that were found underneath a house. She is spayed, current on shots and has passed her health tests. Layla is friendly, outgoing and has lots of love to share.
