A great day in Payson

Editor:
We’re new homeowners in Payson, and enjoyed our first Independence Day here this year at the park. We were pleasantly surprised at the family friendly tone of the event: families with children, games, the notable absence of vulgarity (both spoken and unspoken), and a modest but adequate array of vendors.
The crowds were nothing compared to our previous years down in the Valley, and the weather cooperated perfectly — we even got a little chill after ice cream cones at sundown!
And the fireworks were superb! Event organizers, participants, and attendees are all to be congratulated!
Our only big disappointment was the Jimi Hendrix version of the national anthem. No offense to Jimi or his music; but given the day, a more traditional rendition might have been more appropriate, patriotic, and appreciated by most.
A great day in Payson just the same!

Question of the week
Do you think new Principal Anna Van Zile has a valid idea in eliminating the Asst. Principal and replacing it with an Athletic Director position that would share her duties as Principal?
