Hiking, Horseback Riding Top Neighbors’ Hobbies

Hello again, fellow Creekers.

It looks like the rain did a number on us up here on Monday. It caused a mudslide nearby where they are doing the highway expansion, which closed the road for quite sometime. This week I am doing a couple more neat profiles on my “Better know your neighbor” series.

The first neighbor is Sara Mcenaney. She is originally from a small town near Atlanta, Ga. She now resides up here in Gordon Canyon and works for ERA Young Realty right here in Christopher Creek. She originally ended up here by way of a summer job and has been here for almost 20 years.

If she did not live here, she’d likely be in Savannah, Ga. Her favorite hobby is yoga and her favorite thing about Christopher Creek is all the places to go hiking. She finds the winters here are always memorable because they are always eventful and “interesting” to go through.

The next neighbor is someone who always has something cooking! Cindy Fitch owns and operates the Creekside Steakhouse and Tavern.

She is originally from Mesa and started working at the Creekside 10 years ago. Cindy comes from a service background with her family running the concession for the Oakland A’s and Chicago Cubs here in Arizona.

If she was not here she’d likely be in Mexico or some other mountain town like Christopher Creek. Her favorite hobby is horseback riding. Her family has had a place in this area since 1954 and she has many fond memories.

One of those memories is hanging out with Blanh and Heber White and their kids at the old Christopher Creek Bar and Store (most people know it as the old Landmark) watching people dance on the cement slabs.

As always, I do need your help with content and stories!

For anyone wanting to submit information from the Christopher Creek area for inclusion in our weekly article, please e-mail me at: info@christophercreeklodge.com. Any submitted pictures must be full-size (typically around 1MB per picture). The cutoff time for inclusion in Friday’s article is close of business on Monday.

Thanks again for reading the column.
