An 84-year-old man from Gilbert was killed over the Fourth of July holiday weekend after the quad he was riding flipped and landed on top of him.
German D. Tchernoivanov was riding on Forest Road 291, near Colcord Estates, with friends, including Richy Senitza, about 5:30 p.m. on July 5.
While riding behind a friend, Tchernoivanov lost control of his quad, sending it off the roadway and into a ditch where the quad flipped, landing on top of Tchernoivanov, said Gila County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Tim Scott.
Senitza moved the quad off Tchernoivanov and then called for help. Senitza told dispatch he did not know if Tchernoivanov was still breathing.
The Christopher-Kohl’s Fire Department pronounced Tchernoivanov dead at 5:50 p.m.
