Accuracy and speed with power saws requires serious concentration.

The entry fee for Category A and Category B is $20 per event. Participants must be at least 18 to compete. The event and scoring explanations can be found in an accompanying story.

  3. Single bucking/crosscut men

  4. Jill & Jill bucking/crosscut — women

  5. Jack & Jack bucking/crosscut — men

  8. Power saw bucking — men

  10. Men’s medley

  11. Women’s medley

  12. Rolling pin throw — women

  13. Ax throw (30 feet) — men

  14. Ax throw (20 feet) — women

  15. Speed ax throw — men

  16. Speed ax throw — women

  17. Open saw, 5.0 and under modified saw — men

  18. Open saw — women

CATEGORY B

  1. Specialized — unlimited power saw bucking

  2. Tree climbing

CATEGORY C

These are family events. The entry fee is $5.

  1. Greased pole climb (must be 18 or older)

  2. Cigar smoking firefighting (must be 18 or older)

CHILDREN’S EVENTS

The entry fee is $1 per child per event.

  1. Pine cone throw

  2. Nail drive, for boys and girls, 12 to 14

  3. Rolling pin throw, for girls, 12 to 17

  4. Log toss, for boys, 12 to 17

  5. Log stacking

HOW TO BECOME A CONTESTANT

Step 1 — To register, print and fill out the following forms:

Contestant Entry Form and Insurance Waiver, which can be found at the Rim Country Regional Chamber of Commerce office at the corner of Beeline and West Main; the Payson Parks, Recreation and Tourism office in Green Valley Park; or online at paysonrimcountry.com

Step 2 — Mail the forms, along with entry fees to:

Town of Payson Parks, Recreation and Tourism Dept.

1000 W. Country Club

Payson, AZ 85541

Step 3 — Attend one of the following scheduled registration meetings:

Friday, June 4 — 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., the Payson Event Center, southwest side of town, across from Mazatzal Hotel and Casino on State Route 87 (Beeline).

Saturday, June 5 — 7 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the Payson Event Center.
