Sawdust Festival Events



Accuracy and speed with power saws requires serious concentration.

The entry fee for Category A and Category B is $20 per event. Participants must be at least 18 to compete. The event and scoring explanations can be found in an accompanying story.

These are family events. The entry fee is $5.

  1. Greased pole climb (must be 18 or older)

  2. Cigar smoking firefighting (must be 18 or older)


The entry fee is $1 per child per event.

  1. Pine cone throw

  2. Nail drive, for boys and girls, 12 to 14

  3. Rolling pin throw, for girls, 12 to 17

  4. Log toss, for boys, 12 to 17

  5. Log stacking

Step 1 — To register, print and fill out the following forms:

Contestant Entry Form and Insurance Waiver, which can be found at the Rim Country Regional Chamber of Commerce office at the corner of Beeline and West Main; the Payson Parks, Recreation and Tourism office in Green Valley Park; or online at

Step 2 — Mail the forms, along with entry fees to:

Step 3 — Attend one of the following scheduled registration meetings:

Friday, June 4 — 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., the Payson Event Center, southwest side of town, across from Mazatzal Hotel and Casino on State Route 87 (Beeline).

Saturday, June 5 — 7 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the Payson Event Center.
