Members of the Payson Men’s Golf Association went toe-to-toe June 2 in an ABCD formatted “poker” tournament in which the best two scores on par 4 holes were counted, the best three score on par 3s and the best three on par 5s.

Pinyon needle scale threaten Payson, rural areas

Pinyon needle scale eggs have already hatched in southeast Payson, Trailwood, Beaver Valley Estates and Round Valley. The immature scales “crawlers” have emerged from the egg state and have attached themselves to the needles on the ends of the branches, says Bob Celaya, forest health specialists for the Cooperative Extension Service.

He wants to allow federal agencies to redirect half of any unnecessary, unspent money in their budgets to other initiatives and half to deficit reduction.
