Members of the Payson Men’s Golf Association went toe-to-toe June 2 in an ABCD formatted “poker” tournament in which the best two scores on par 4 holes were counted, the best three score on par 3s and the best three on par 5s.

Carding a tally of 150, the foursome of Tim Ernst, Richard Harding, Jim Livingstone and Bob Hendrie took first place prize money.

In second, one stroke off the winner’s pace, was the team of Terry Lindsey, Russ Morris, Tom Dahl and Ed Quigley.

Larry Smith, Herb Sherman, Bill McKenna and Don Gyde were third at 153.

In addition to Sherman pocketing third place prize money, he was a cash winner on No. 2 where his tee shot was closest at 7 feet, 1/2 inch.

Other winners were Bennie Burns (No.5; 1 foot, 10 inches), Mike McKee (No. 8; 14 feet, 9 inches), Gary Vaplon (No. 14; 2 feet, 1/2 inch) and Gary Campbell (No. 17; 10 feet, 1 inch).

Members are currently playing in a two-man best ball tournament that began June 9 and will wrap up tomorrow, June 16.
