June is already halfway over and according to the morning newspaper, the monsoon season has started as of June 15.
The fire season has also started. Southeast Arizona has already had a few forest fires, mainly human caused. What a shame that people destroy something so beautiful just because they do not care or are neglectful.
Just by looking out my office window, I can tell that the brush is very dry and would flare up with the slightest spark. I caution everyone to be extra careful.
The next big holiday is July 4, our nation’s birthday, and Tonto Village is going to celebrate the day with a quad parade and a kids ’n’ kritters contest. Ethel Cain, the owner of the Double D Restaurant and Bar is sponsoring the event. The parade will start at the first set of mailboxes at 1 p.m. Decorate your
quad in a patriotic theme or whatever brings out your creativity. There will be barbecued beef on a bun at the restaurant and Popsicles for the kids who enter the kids ’n’ kritters parade.
Lynda St. John will be providing live music at the bar on July 3 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. And she will be on the patio from 2:30 until 5:30 p.m. For more information, call the restaurant at (928) 478-4332.
