Two Linden men believed to be the notorious “High Country Bandits” were arrested by FBI agents at 9 o’clock this morning in connection with a four-state spree of armed bank and credit union robberies that began with the robbery of the Bank of the West branch in Heber last Sept. 8.

Allen legislation protects rural property owners from line extension fees

PHOENIX – Determined to protect her constituents from new state policies that punish rural property owners, State Senator Sylvia Allen (R-Snowflake) is sponsoring legislation to roll back a 2007 Corporation Commission decision allowing public utilities to charge rural residents the full cost of electricity line extensions. If enacted, the legislation would require APS to reinstate its former policy, granting rural residents free line extensions under 500 feet.
DRAFT K-12 COMMON CORE STATE STANDARDS AVAILABLE FOR COMMENT

Tom Horne, State Superintendent of Schools announced today that the Council of Chief School State Officers (CCSSO) and the National Governor’s Association Center for Best Practices (NGA Center) released the first public draft of the K-12 Common Core State Standards in English Language Arts and Mathematics. The public is invited to review and provide feedback.
