Dead Folk Singers Society

The Community Presbyterian Church is happy to host the second gathering of the Payson Chapter of the Dead Folk Singers Society at 6 p.m., Wednesday, March 17. The suggested donation at the door is $3.

The Dead Folk Singers Society gathering is an open stage and jam session for people to share songs and stories about folk singers, songwriters and musicians who have lived in the past. Songs from such artists as Woody Guthrie, Mary Travers (of Peter, Paul and Mary), Mississippi John Hurt, Janis Joplin, Hoagy Carmichael, John Denver, the Carter Family, Johnny Cash, Cole Porter, Leadbelly, John Stewart and Stephen Foster have been shared in the past.

Folk music is the sharing of songs throughout the generations that tell stories, share experiences and provide us with a connection to the past. Please plan to attend for an evening of fun, entertainment and sharing. For more information, call Anne Eichberger at (928) 951-4422.
