Preparing for the upcoming Easter Fest at the Payson Woman’s Club recently were, from left, Lois Brice, Dottie Williuam and Carole Fries. The annual Easter Fest is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, March 27. The Woman’s Club is at 510 W. Main St. The ladies of the club will serve a lunch and have plenty of yummy baked goods on sale. Arts, Crafts spring sale

The Mogollon Health Alliance Arts & Crafts Auxiliary will be holding its annual spring sale from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Friday, March 19 in the main lobby of the Payson Regional Medical Center. All proceeds benefit the many programs, scholarships, and grants offered in the Rim Country by the Mogollon Health Alliance.

Chamber Mixer

The March Chamber Mixer will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., Friday, March 19 at the Business Showcase location, the Foxworth Galbraith property, 202 N. Beeline Highway. The mixer is sponsored by Payson P.A.Y.S., which cleaned of the entire Foxworth property.

The mixer is a chance to preview of the “Building Rim Country Business” Showcase booths. There will be finger food and beverages, catered by Gerardo’s Italian Bistro and Cousins Subs. The event will also have door prizes, raffles and fun. Admission is $3 for members, $5 for others. No one under 21 will be admitted.

Gubernatorial candidates visit

The Payson Tea Party and KCMA radio invite the public to meet the Arizona gubernatorial candidates at 6 p.m., Friday, March 19 at the Payson High School Auditorium. Pancake breakfast

A pancake breakfast to benefit youth will be held from 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., Saturday, March 20 at Calvary Chapel, 1103 N. Beeline Highway. The cost is $4 for adults and $2 for children.

Brush pits open

This coming weekend, the Regional Payson Area Project for a Fire Wise Rim Country (RPAP) will be staffing free brush drop-off points at the following locations, weather permitting:

• Saturday, March 20 the Blattner Pit will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Blattner Pit is located at Milepost 259.7 on Highway 260, east of Payson.

• Sunday, March 21, the Pine Pit will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Pine Pit is located .7 of a mile east of Highway 87 on Control Road, south of Pine.

Business Showcase

The 18th annual Business Showcase is about Building Rim Country Business. The Showcase will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, March 20 and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Sunday, March 21 at the Foxworth-Galbraith property, 202 N. Beeline Highway.

Rim Country residents and visitors will have the opportunity to see the products and services of almost 70 area businesses and organizations at the two-day event. Many of the vendors will also be selling products from their booths.

There will be everything from a man that tests wells, to haircuts from the folks at Shear Oasis Salon. There will also be seminars on tax credit home improvements by Payson P.A.Y.S. every half-hour. Admission is $1.

Free appraisals

Gold and Silver Extravaganza will be offering free appraisals for jewelry, gold, silver, coins, diamonds and watches from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday, March 19 and Saturday, March 20 at Best Western Payson Inn. In most cases, the presenters will also be offering to buy the items.

March 21 Sunday

• Pianist performs: 9 a.m. and 11:10 a.m. programs by Jerry Nelson at Payson First Church of the Nazarene, 200 E. Tyler Parkway, Payson

• Wade Hammond in concert: 10:30 a.m., First Southern Baptist Church, 302 S. Ash, Payson

• Business Showcase: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Foxworth-Galbraith property, 202 N. Beeline, Payson, $1 admission

Pianist performs

Internationally celebrated concert pianist, Jerry Nelson, will present two concerts Sunday, March 21 at Payson First Church of the Nazarene, 200 E. Tyler Parkway. The programs will be at 9 a.m. and 11:10 a.m.

Nelson has established himself as one of the world’s premiere performers, having performed on all continents. Nelson has conducted orchestras from London to Tel Aviv to Nashville and Los Angeles.

There is no charge for admission. A freewill offering will be received to support Nelson’s Africa ministry.

Wade Hammond concert

Wade Hammond will present a concert at First Southern Baptist Church of Payson Sunday, March 21. Hammond will lead the morning service. He is a Dove award nominee and has appeared on TBN, The Miracle Channel, and has also recorded with some of the Gaither Homecoming Friends. Hammond sings a variety of music: praise and worship, inspirational, hymns, gospel and original songs written by him.

Please plan to attend the 10:30 a.m. service, Sunday, March 21. First Southern Baptist Church is located at 302 S. Ash, on the corner of Bonita and Colcord.
