Spring is right around the corner. Hurray! I saw my first robin last week and it was looking for worms. I have seen the worms coming up from the ground and I don’t think that they know that they will be a nice meal for the robins. Also, in Bear Flat, the residents have heard their first sounds of hummingbirds. Is it possible that these first “hummers” are a scout for the rest of the birds coming in from the south? There have been many small birds feeding on seed that I have been throwing out for them. I think that they are called juncos. They are a small bird with a small beak, gray in color with a rust spot on their backs. I have been told that they are winter birds and will soon fly south for the summer. Where do they go?
Blue jays are also visiting my yard and chasing away the small birds. It is such a treat to sit and watch them.

Double D doings
Since the weather has been unstable with snow and rain, there was no tournament for the nine-ball teams on Tuesday. They will play again this Tuesday. However, the scotch doubles tournament will be held Friday, March 19, and will start about 7 p.m. Grab your partner and your favorite pool stick and head on down to the Double D for an evening of fun and competition.
