Matt West always wanted to be in the Army. It wasn’t until he started working as an ER Tech at Payson Regional Medical Center that he knew he wanted to become an Army Medic. On March 30, West leaves for nine weeks of basic training at Fort Sill, Okla. Upon completion he will attend medic school at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas for 16 weeks of training.

Recently Payson High School ecology and biology students packed onto a school bus and traveled to different points along the Verde River to measure pH levels of water, velocity and depth, and to look for organisms.
