Verde Valley job fair seeks exhibitors and sponsors

Yavapai Workforce Connection, Cottonwood Chamber of Commerce, and Yavapai College are teaming up again to host the 5th annual Verde Valley Job, Career & Education Fair on Wednesday, May 12, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Verde Valley Fairgrounds.

The event allows employers to engage in a face-to-face format to discuss career opportunities with job seekers, network, and showcase their company to a wide-range audience of business professionals.

"We are expecting between 30 to40 booths this year representing all areas of career and educational opportunities,” said Lana Tolleson, president and CEO of the Cottonwood Chamber of Commerce. “Right now we are concentrating on obtaining sponsorships/exhibitors; the more we have the better success we’ll experience for businesses and job seekers alike.”

A limited number of openings are available for exhibitors and sponsorships.

Interested businesses should register early to guarantee a booth at the job fair. Cost is $35 for registrations received before April 9, and $45 for registrations received after.

A booth at the job fair presents an ideal opportunity for employers to fill job vacancies while providing valuable exposure for their company.

Last year, the Job Fair attracted more than 600 job seekers with broad qualifications.

Sponsorship openings for the Job Fair are also available for only $150, and provide many advantages.

As a sponsor, business participants can help build their name, image and their pride in supporting an event that helps fuel and sustain the local economic climate. Sponsorship packages provide sponsors with a table and their own banner in a prominent location at the Fair; their company name mentioned in all pre-publicity.

The job fair is co-hosted by Camp Verde Chamber of Commerce, Sedona Chamber of Commerce, Verde Valley Newspapers, and Yavapai Broadcasting.

For more information on how to become an exhibitor and/or sponsor, contact, Christian Oliva del Rio at the Cottonwood Chamber of Commerce, at (928) 634-7593.

Arizona State Credit Union tops the list of credit unions

Arizona State Credit Union has been named the No. 1 credit union for the fourth year in a row in the 2010 Ranking Arizona: The Best of Arizona Business.

The rankings are published by Arizona Business Magazine and are based on voters’ opinions making up the largest business opinion poll taken in Arizona.

“We are honored to continually be ranked as the number one credit union in the state, especially by the Ranking Arizona list, because it’s based on the opinions of the communities we serve,” said David E. Doss, President and CEO of Arizona State Credit Union. “We strive to be a strong leader in our communities and maintain these efforts by finding better ways to serve our members.”

This year alone, Arizona State Credit Union has expanded banking services with the opening of a new location in the Kierland neighborhood of Scottsdale and the introduction of the online account opening service for new and existing members.

The Credit Union also responded to the changing community needs resulting from economic difficulties by launching a community forum for Arizona residents,

“Our top priorities are our members and the communities we serve,” said Doss. “We will continue to provide responsive service and value-added products — whether online or in our branches.”
