Members of Soroptimist International of Zane Grey Country were out in the blustery weather this weekend to help area residents get great treats to fill those Easter baskets.

Tonto Gym memberships due

The Senior Circle Tonto Gym memberships are due. Please drop by the Senior Circle office during the month of April to renew or sign up for your discount at the Tonto Gym. The cost is $52 and will cover the months of May, June and July. If you are not a member of Senior Circle and would like to take advantage of this great discount, just come on in to the Senior Circle and become a member. It’s just one of the advantages of our program. The Senior Circle is at 215 N. Beeline Highway.

Health events

The Senior Circle Health Events series is sponsored by the Payson Regional Medical Center. This program connects our members with the community’s doctors providing free information on various health-related issues.

Most recently, Dr. Robert Gilbert and Dr. Peter Zonakis spoke at Circle forums. More than 50 members attended both events and members walked away with many of their questions answered. Dr. Gilbert spoke on colon cancer and Dr. Zonakis on skin cancer.

The event also allowed attendees the opportunity to see our local doctors in a different environment. The setting is casual, both doctors providing humor in their presentation and personal information about themselves that you would probably not get at a doctor’s visit. These events are a great way for the doctors to get connected to the community outside their offices.

All Senior Circle members are encouraged to attend these informative and fun events.

Dr. Cynthia Booth will be the next doctor to speak at the Circle. She will be at the April 28 Lunch and Learn program from 11 a.m. to noon. Dr. Booth is a local gynecologist and she will hold a round table discussion at this event with the members who attend. Dr. Booth’s topic will be wellness checks for women over 50. This is a great opportunity for Senior Circle women to meet Dr. Booth and have questions answered regarding her field. Dr. Booth will also touch on how the new health care bill might affect your care and what may or may not be covered. Sign up now for this free event by calling (928) 472-9290.

The Senior Circle will be holding a cardio workshop at the April 14 Lunch and Learn program, sponsored by the Payson Care Center. The program will feature both nutrition and exercise programs for the heart. Plan to attend this informative and free health care event. Call now to reserve a spot, (928) 472-9290.

Senior Circle Wii Bowling

The Senior Circle Wii Bowling League will begin in April. The open bowling class is for both men and women and will be from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Thursdays. Sign up now for this fun and challenging video game played on the big screen TV. Anyone can do it. It’s great exercise and helps with balance and eye-hand coordination. Sign up now. Don’t worry, instruction on play will be provided — it’s easy! Call (928) 472-9290.

Free movie

Sign up now for the Senior Circle movie. The first Tuesday of the month the Circle will show a current DVD release. The movie “Old Dogs” will be shown at 1 p.m., Tuesday, April 6. The comedy features John Travolta and Robin Williams. Come enjoy the free movie and popcorn.

Member lunch

The next Senior Circle member lunch is from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Wednesday, April 21. The Senior Circle will be serving baked chicken and the rest is potluck! There will be games and prizes and lots of laughs and fun. Keep the date open and sign up now. Call (928) 472-9290 to reserve a seat. It is not mandatory that you bring a potluck dish to attend.
