A Canadian woman is dead and her husband seriously injured after the motorcycle they were riding on crashed near Forest Lakes Tuesday evening.
Frank William Hilgendorf and Jodiann Marie Hilgendorf of Alberta, Canada were riding a Honda motorcycle eastbound on Highway 260, near milepost 288, when the motorcycle’s rear tire blew out causing the motorcycle to fishtail and Frank to lost control, said Bart Graves, DPS media relations coordinator.
The pair crashed and Jodiann was pronounced dead on scene. Frank was flown to Scottsdale Osborn Hospital in serious condition. Both were wearing helmets at the time, Graves said.
Six people traveling with the Hilgendorfs were later driven to the Valley by the Gila County Sheriff’s Office. Lt. Tim Scott said because there were no rental cars available in the area, the sheriff’s office sent a jail van to pick the six people up and drive them to the hospital to be with Frank.

Think about it: THESE are some of the people that our town council wants to force to pay the (proposed) town-mandated "use tax" on rental cars.
"Stick it to them out-a-towners." Yeah, that's a REAL good policy.
As far as I know, there's only ONE rental car agency in Payson. Now, Payson bureaucrats are pushing for an increase in taxes on rental cars rented to Enterprise customers. What foolishness to think that only non-residents will pay the increased tax.
Every time that I've had to rent a car in Payson, it certainly wasn't for pleasure.

Cool it, Dan. This is a tragedy, not some opening for you to peddle your anti-government rhetoric.
