The weather is just perfect, not too warm and not too cold. I am anxious to get the garden planted. We have been told that it is still too early for tomato plants, that the nighttime temperature should be at least 55 degrees. Here in the Village the temperature has hovered around 40 to 42 degrees early in the morning. So, we will have to chomp at the bit and wait for a week or two. I can’t wait for the juicy taste of a homegrown tomato.
One of my neighbors and good friend and myself, attended the latest edition of the Payson Choral Society concert. It was a delightful afternoon. The director is so talented to place the singers in just the right spot to bring out the best sound.
A huge thank you to all the chorus for an enjoyable afternoon.

Tuesday, May 18 is an election day for the 1 cent sales tax proposed by the Arizona State Legislature. This would be a temporary tax until May 31, 2013. Our district is the Zane Grey District and the polling place is in Christopher Creek at the Christian Fellowship Church on top of the hill, next to the Christopher-Kohl’s Fire Station. The polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. My hubby and I will be there again this Election Day without our beagle, Libby. She is now 13 years old and really slowing down big time! Our neighbor has graciously offered to doggie sit for us since we will be there for such a long day. I’m sure we don’t need it, but we have another neighbor watching our home for anything unusual. See you at the polls! Remember to bring your picture ID!
The Tonto Village Water Improvement District will be replacing two positions on the water board. The election will be on the November ballots. Election packets are now available at the home of Linda Stailey in Tonto Village II. Linda is the administrative assistant to the Water Improvement District. Call Linda at (928) 478-4641 for more information and to pick up a packet.
Birthdays and anniversaries
Sue Prach of Tonto Village I will celebrate her birthday on May 16. Sue has been having a lot of fun playing pool with the nine-ball players at the Double D. Sue recently had a procedure in Connecticut and will soon be home. Best wishes to you, Sue.
Annette Godfrey is celebrating her big day May 17. Annette is an avid dominoes player but has made only infrequent visits with us for the past years. All the Domino Divas miss her and hope that Annette will be back with us very soon.
Belated fifth anniversary wishes to Angela and Dylan Glass. Their anniversary was on May 5. Angela is the oldest daughter of Rick and Theresa Meeker of Tonto Village II and Scottsdale. May you both continue to grow together in life and love and that you had a wonderful day.
On Tuesday evening the Double D gals and the Christopher Creek gals played their games of nine-ball. When the chalk dust settled, Sherri Moore of Kohl’s Ranch topped the rest of the players. Second place was won by Bobbi Davis of Tonto Village I and Kara Shaw of Tonto Village III shot for third place. Congratulations to all the winners.
