A bicyclist escaped serious injury after crashing a bike into a car Thursday afternoon and walked away with only a few bumps and bruises.
Around 1 p.m., witnesses called police to report that a woman on a bicycle was pinned beneath a vehicle in the intersection of Forest Road and Highway 87.
When officers arrived, they found a woman injured from falling off her bike, but she was not pinned beneath the vehicle as reported, said Payson Police Chief Don Engler.
Officers learned that the cyclist and the vehicle were heading west on Forest Road and were crossing Highway 87 when the bicyclist ran into the vehicle.
“Both were moving at a very slow pace,” Engler said. The bicyclist was thrown to the pavement from the impact. The woman was transported to Payson Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
