On July 31, the Payson Police Department is once again hosting the National Night Out (NNO), a nationwide police effort aimed at lowering crime rates.
From noon to 8 p.m., Saturday, July 31 at Green Valley Park, residents can take part in a series of events. There will be live entertainment from local musicians, dancers, the always-popular police officers versus firefighters relay race and crime and drug prevention information.
There will also be a dunk tank, bounce house for children and much more.
NNO is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW) and involves more than 11,000 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases around the world.
This is the event’s 27th anniversary and the third time Payson has participated.
The PPD invites local businesses and organizations to get involved and take part in “this great community event.”
The department is looking for sponsors to help pay for the costs of game booths, information booths, entertainment and promotional items in exchange for advertising.
If you would like more information on how to get involved, contact the PPD at (928) 474-5242, ext. 220, or e-mail Charlene Hunt at Chunt@ci.payson.az.us. Visit www.nationalnightout.org to learn more about NNO and see videos of other city events.
