The Zane Grey Twirlers are sponsoring the 30th annual Square and Round Dance Festival June 11 and 12 at the Tonto Apache Recreation Center, southeast of the Mazatzal Hotel and Casino.
Activities begin at 7 p.m., Friday, June 11 with pre-round dancing led by Ernie and Barb Lopez of Prescott.
Square dancing begins at 8 p.m. with caller Mike Seastrom from Tarzana, Calif.
The fun starts at 8 a.m., Saturday, June 12 with a pancake breakfast and welcome dance with guest callers and cuers.
Then, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. there will be a round dance workshop; and from 2:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. will be the square dance workshop.
On Saturday evening, pre-rounds start at 7 p.m., followed by the Grand March at 7:45 p.m. Bob Jones will sing the national anthem, followed by a welcoming address from Town of Payson Mayor Kenny Evans. Square dancing will begin at 8 p.m.
Rim Country area residents are welcome to come and watch this festive event at no charge.
