We are only one day away from the Memorial Day weekend and the Village buzzing with activity.

This weekend is the unofficial start of the summer season and our part-time residents will be here to open their cabins for the season. What better time than this weekend to have a get-together to gather all the residents in one place to visit and catch up on the news of the Village?

Come to the Hellsgate Fire Station #22 on Mathews Lane for a great breakfast served by the Fireflies Auxiliary. Breakfast will be served from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. along with a giant garage sale.

There will also be live music by DJ Larry Smith to entertain you as you eat and visit. Just follow the signs from Highway 260 at the turnoff for the Control Road and Tonto Village.

There will be many campers around the area and the auxiliary encourages the folks to come and eat breakfast with the locals. Come and join us!

The Hellsgate Fireflies Auxiliary will be meeting on Wednesday, June 2 at fire station #22 in Tonto Village. The meeting will start at 11 a.m. Discussion will center around the Memorial weekend breakfast and the upcoming Labor Day barbecue. Help is always needed and the auxiliary welcomes the part-time residents who would like to help for the fund-raisers.

The Hellsgate Fire Department board will be meeting on Wednesday, June 9 at 5:30 p.m. at station #21 in Star Valley, located at 80 Walters Lane, just behind the Moose Club. The meetings are open to the public and comments are encouraged.

Domino Divas

If you haven’t taken the time to check out this group of domino lovers, you’ve missed out on a fun afternoon. The Divas meet on Wednesdays at 1 p.m. at the Hellsgate Tonto Village station #22.

Most of the gals bring some munchies to eat before the games start and, of course, anything chocolate is required after 3 p.m. The games could be either Mexican Train or Chicken foot.

Don’t worry if you don’t know how to play, there always is someone to take the newcomers under their wing and teach them.

We try to solve the news of the day, recipes, grandchildren, good and bad, what is good for the Village, etc. while we play, so it makes for a very interesting afternoon.

Don’t miss out, every Wednesday, rain or shine, the Domino Divas get together. Come and have some great fun!

The month of June starts off with Tonto Village I resident Jerry Farmer on June 2. You will get a great big wave from Jerry as you pass his house on Johnson Boulevard.

Marilyn Lamb of Kohl’s Ranch will celebrate her birthday June 6. Marilyn is an avid Domino player and is famous for her fantastic apple bread.

Ruthann Winchester of Mead Ranch will celebrate her big day on June 7. Happy birthday to each and every one of you. May love, laughter, and contentment decorate your day and fill your year.

Pool results

The Double D nine-ball players were ready for the Christopher Creek gals this past Tuesday evening and they were lucky enough to sweep the games. First place went to Pat Bates, second place, Linda Stailey, and third place, Bobbie Davis. Way to go, gals!
