There are two more chances to see Matt LaFon and the rest of the Payson High School drama department present the play “Peter Pan.” A matinee will be held at 4 p.m., Friday, Nov. 5 and the last show is at 7 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 6 at the Payson High School Auditorium. Prices at the door are $6 for adults, $5 for students and senior citizens.

Time Out Thrift Shop dollar days

Take “time out 2 shop” for fantastic savings at the Time Out Thrift Store Friday, Nov. 5 for a $1 Days Sale.

Fill a shopping bag with any regular clothing and buy it all for just a dollar (no boutique or Western wear is included). There will be more dollar bargains available.

The thrift shop is located at 500 S. Beeline Highway, across the street from Wendy’s.

Fall Craft Festival, Bake Sale

Don’t miss the annual Fall Craft Festival and Bake Sale sponsored by the St. Philip the Apostle Mystical Rose Sodality from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 5 and Saturday, Nov. 6, and from 9 a.m. to noon Sunday, Nov. 7. Special prizes will be awarded Sunday when tickets are drawn: first is a lovely porcelain doll, second a yo-yo quilt and third is a handmade afghan.

Angel Tree fund-raiser

The Pre-K class at Community Presbyterian Child Learning Center does a community service project every year. This year the class has chosen to help children who are less fortunate by raising money to buy presents.

To raise the necessary funds, there will be a Spaghetti Dinner/Bake Sale at 800 W. Main St. from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., Friday, Nov. 5.

A boutique and yard sale will be held from 6:30 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Nov. 6 at Shepherd of the Pines Lutheran Church, 507 W. Wade Lane.

Rummage sale for students

There will be a rummage sale to help raise money for Gifted and Talented Payson Students from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 6 at 102 W. Roundup (take 87, just north of Airport Road).

Brush pit schedule

This coming weekend, the Regional Payson Area Project… for a Fire Wise Rim Country (RPAP) will be staffing free brush drop-off points at the following locations, weather permitting: Saturday, Nov. 6 the Blattner Pit will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Blattner Pit is located at Milepost 259.7 on Highway 260, east of Payson; Sunday, Nov. 7 the Pine Pit will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Pine Pit is located .7 of a mile east of Highway 87 on Control Road, south of Pine.

Health and Care Fair

Payson Regional Medical Center, Hospice Compassus and the Mogollon Health Alliance are holding the annual Community Health and Care Fair from 8 a.m. to noon, Saturday, November 6 from 8 a.m. until noon in the “old” gym at Payson High School. Residents who generally do not receive regular health checkups are encouraged to attend this free health event.

Health vendors will provide blood draws and testing, skin-cancer screenings, dental checks, blood pressure checks, basic breast exams, hearing tests, peripheral vascular disease screenings and more.

At the event, children’s screenings will be provided. Youngsters can have dental exams, heart and lung exams and vision and hearing tests. Parents can get nutrition information and have children fingerprinted.

Clothing giveaway

There will be a clothing giveaway from 8 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Nov. 6 at First Southern Baptist Church, at the corner of W. Bonita, Colcord and Ash Streets, Payson.

Order a wreath this weekend

New Hope Equine Rescue will be in front of Bashas from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 6 offering presales of Christmas wreaths.  There will be color brochures with information on the products, along with order forms.  Come see the beautiful wreaths being sold as a fundraiser for rescued horses.

Pine-Strawberry Craft Guild

The Pine-Strawberry Craft Guild’s special holiday display is now at the Community Center.  The guild is featuring many beautiful hand-made treasures.  The crafters’ set up a variety of items in the craft room, which is located across from the playground in the building that houses the Thrift Store.  The guild shop will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 6 and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 7 and each weekend throughout the months of November and December.

AARP Driver Safety Class

An AARP Driver Safety class will be held at the Senior Circle, 215 N. Beeline Highway, from noon to 4 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 6.

This is a classroom refresher for motorists aged 50 and older who have years of driving experience. The cost is $14, but AARP members will receive a $2 discount if they bring their membership card. Participants may be eligible for an auto insurance discount. Bring your driver’s license. Call the Senior Circle at (928) 468-1012 to register.

Reunion, dedication in Tonto Basin

There will be an alumni reunion and dedication at the Little Red School House in Tonto Basin at 1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 6.

Students who attended the Little Red School House, Packard School District 33, in Tonto Basin, between 1925 and 1980 are being sought for a celebration of the old building’s rebirth.

Benefit for Susan G. Komen Walk

Help raise money for the Nov. 12-14 Susan G. Komen Walk for the Cure at Tiny’s Family Restaurant, 600 E. Highway 260, Payson from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 7. Admission is $5 per person, which includes a ticket for a raffle with more than 40 prizes.

Enjoy music by Carl Anthony and Gary Cordell and dance if that’s your desire. Additional raffle tickets can be purchased at the event.
