Gila County Attorney Daisy Flores will offer free open meeting law training.
Arizona law now provides that “[a] person elected or appointed to a public body shall review the open meeting law materials at least one day before the day that person takes office.”
Because of this new provision, the Gila County Attorney’s Office will provide open meeting law training geared toward helping newly elected public officials satisfy this new requirement. The training will be presented by Chief Deputy County Attorney Bryan Chambers, who has worked on open meeting law issues for the office for several years.
The open meeting law training will be available twice in Globe and twice in Payson. In Globe, the training will be held at the Gila County Board of Supervisors Hearing Room, located at 1400 E. Ash St., on Tuesday, Nov. 16, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
In Payson, the training will be held at the Payson Gila Community College Campus, located at 201 N. Mud Springs Road, on Wednesday, Nov. 17, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in Rooms #405-406; and on Thursday, Nov. 18, from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. in Room #111.
Please RSVP to Sharon Listiak at the Gila County Attorney’s Office at (928) 402-8841 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org in order to reserve a seat at one of these training sessions and to ensure that the County Attorney’s Office can prepare sufficient training materials.
