Enjoyed The Story Of ‘Five Generations Of Hales In Gisela’

I was doing some research on my great grandfather, John Johnston Hale and came across the Oct. 12, 2004 article “Five Generations of Hales in Gisela.”

The article mentions Jim Lovelady, who was my grandfather, and Eunice, my grandmother, who raised Robert Duke Hale and his brother Forest Hale after their mother, Rebecca Ann Thomas, died. My dad, Frank Duke Lovelady, always spoke of “Uncle Duke” and “Uncle Forest” and about growing up on the Blue River in eastern Arizona.

As a young man, in 1965, I went with my parents to Payson and Gisela for a family visit. We visited Dollie, Forest’s wife. Then we went down to Gisela and visited Myrtle, Forest’s and Dollie’s daughter. My dad’s brother, Walter Lovelady, had passed away but his wife, Bell, still lived in Payson. I enjoyed the article very much.
