Thank you to the Payson community for their support of the Prison Fellowship Ministries “Angel Tree” program that is being sponsored by the Community Presbyterian Church and Child Learning Center.
Each year the Pre-K class at the child care center helps sponsor this program by offering a dinner to the public as a way to create funding to purchase Christmas gifts for children who have a parent in prison. The money raised purchases two gifts per child, meeting a need and a want.
The shopping is done by the Pre-K students and their teacher who also spend time wrapping the gifts.
This opportunity for our children to learn about giving to another is an invaluable lesson they will hopefully carry throughout life.
Friday, Nov. 5 featured a spaghetti dinner prepared by the Child Learning Center staff complete with all the trimmings. Also featured was a bake sale, raffle for numerous fine gifts, Christmas sing-along presented by two awesome some local Girl Scouts, fine local musical entertainment and the chance for kids and adults alike to have a photo with Santa and Mrs. Claus while dropping off their Christmas wish lists.
The event was well attended and the center was able to raise over $650 for this great program. This year we have 39 children to provide for, and thanks to your help the Child Learning Center will be able to shop for 15 of those children and have enough money left over to create 10 or more Christmas food baskets to be distributed to local families in need complete with a full dinner, turkey and all.
It was evident from the moment I moved to Payson in 2000 that this is a very special community, and this year your help made that even more vivid. Thank you for your generous response to this program and for making Payson such a wonderful community to live and work in.
