SV to discuss water issues

The Star Valley Town Council will meet in executive session to discuss water issues with the town’s water attorney Tuesday night.

Although the session is closed to the public, the council could announce afterward if it plans to continue allocating money to water attorney Karen Nally.

The council’s regular agenda, starting at 6:30 p.m., only holds one item, moving the Jan. 18 council meeting to Jan. 25.

The meeting will be held at 3933 E. Highway 260, in the Lamplighter RV Park recreation room.

Pine fire under investigation

Authorities say it is too early to tell what caused an attic fire in a Pine home Friday night. The owners of the home told firefighters they were asleep when they were woken up by the sound of crackling coming from the attic of the home, in the 5600 block of Crooked Pine Lane, said Pine-Strawberry Fire Chief David Staub.

P-S, Payson and Houston Mesa firefighters contained the blaze to the modular home’s roof and extinguished it in 20 minutes.

Although arson is not suspected, the cause of the fire remains under investigation, Staub said. Although there was extensive damage done to the home, most of the owners’ belongings were saved. Neighbors are helping the family with lodging.
