The merchants of Swiss Village invite Rim Country residents and visitors to join them from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Friday, Nov. 26 for the annual Swiss Village Christmas Lighting ceremony. Entertainment planned includes dancers at 5 p.m. and carolers from area schools, both beginning at 5 p.m. The lights come on at 6 p.m. and Santa will arrive by fire truck. There will be an opportunity to have photos taken with Santa, shopping and refreshments.

Nov. 26 Friday

• Holiday sale: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Pine/Strawberry Thrift Store, continues Saturday

• Christmas for Kids: all day, Walmart parking lot, DPS officers will collect toys for the annual campaign

• Payson Public Library: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

• Pine Library: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

• Rim Country Museum: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., 700 Green Valley Pkwy.

• Pine/Strawberry Museum: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Pine Community Center

• American Legion Fish Fry: Noon-8 p.m., American Legion

• Swiss Village Christmas Lighting: 5 p.m., entertainment starts; 6 p.m., lighting event and Santa arrives; shops open until 9 p.m.

Thrift store holiday sale

The Pine/Strawberry Thrift Store, 3916 N. Highway 87 in downtown Pine will feature Christmas items such as decorations, ornaments, gifts, clothing and other holiday merchandise from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 26 and 27. All books will be on sale for half off the marked prices.

Beginning Dec. 1, hours will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., or if there is no one in the store at 3 p.m., it will close then.

Christmas for Kids drive

Nov. 26 — Black Friday — DPS will be collecting new toys in the Walmart parking lot. All of the toys will be donated to children registered with the program in addition to the shopping trip they take, said DPS Sgt. Terry Lincoln.

Along with the toy drive, the local firefighters will host the Tamales for Toys at Gerardo’s on Dec. 4.

Parents can register their children for Christmas for Kids Dec. 4 at Town Hall.

• Festival of Lights: 1 p.m. fun begins with salsa cooking contest, craft show, entertainment and more, Pine Community Center, continues Sunday

Healthy Woman program

The Payson Regional Medical Center Healthy Woman Program will host an educational event for women from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 27 at the Payson Regional Medical Center’s Outreach Center located at 215 N. Beeline Highway (the Senior Circle building).

Festival of Lights

All of Pine is gearing up for the Annual Festival of Lights, planned for Saturday, Nov. 27 and Sunday, Nov. 28. 

Some the highlights include a two-day Christmas Craft Show in the Cultural Hall, a visit from Santa Claus, refreshments, music, story-telling, a jingle bell parade, caroling, and of course the lighting ceremony.  

The fun begins on Saturday at noon.  One afternoon highlight will be the Salsa Recipe Challenge taking place at 1 p.m.  There will be two divisions — the professional category for restaurants and the non-professional category. 

The parade and tree lighting ceremony begin around 6 p.m.

Nov. 28 Sunday

• Rim Country Museum: 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., 700 Green Valley Pkwy.

• Pine/Strawberry Museum: 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., Pine Community Center

• Bingo: 1 p.m., Elks Lodge, open to the public
