Library Speaker Will Explore ‘What Is Good?’

The Library Friends of Payson will host another Road Scholar program Monday, Oct. 18. The Library Friends of Payson will host Arizona Humanities Council Road Scholar and ASU Assistant Professor of Humanities, Arts and Cultural Studies, Owen Anderson, who will discuss Enduring Questions: What is the Good?, which explores the quandary of what it is that makes something good, and whether or not anything is good in itself.

In the midst of an economic downturn and continued global conflicts it can become easy to wonder if the good life is achievable. In this Arizona Humanities Council funded presentation Anderson will explore some of the problems in identifying the good, discuss its relationship to other concepts such as virtue and happiness, and think about how the good can be pursued even in complex and difficult times.

Join the Library Friends for a business meeting at 10 a.m. and this exciting presentation at 10:30 a.m. in the Payson library meeting room. A potluck luncheon will follow in honor of the guest speaker and National Friends of Libraries Week.
