Southern Lady Designs Opening Soon

Janet Waldron stands next to one of the glass stands that fill her new shop, Southern Lady Designs, off Main Street. Although the shop is not yet ready to open its doors, Waldron and her husband are working hard to have the store prepped and ready to go for the Nov. 1 grand opening.

On Nov. 1, check out the newest Main Street store that specializes in old treasures.

Southern Lady Designs will open adjacent to Artist of the Rim art gallery, at 408 W. Main St., suite 4.

Owner Janet Waldron said the store would offer new and like-new smaller antiques and gifts — from crystal glassware, cut glass, to decorative plates and holiday ornaments as well as silk floral arrangements handmade by Waldron.

The small, brightly lit shop will hold mostly wholesale items but also personal items from Waldron’s family.

Waldron said the store is reminiscent of a gift shop she owned in the Valley decades ago.

For the past 20 years, Waldron worked at Walmart as the jewelry department manager.

On Jan. 15, Waldron retired from Walmart. After 10 months of retirement bliss, Waldron decided to quit retirement and create Southern Lady Designs, which will reflect some of the knowledge that she acquired in owning a gift shop, flower shop and the Waldron School of Floral Design.

“When looking for a location, I decided on Main Street as it is well traveled and leads to the beautiful Green Valley Park that many residents enjoy,” she said.

Waldron invites everyone she served and made friends with while working at Walmart to stop in and say hi at the Nov. 1 grand opening party from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Southern Lady Designs will be open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday thereafter.
