The Payson Art League ARToberFEST opens from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, Oct. 22 with an artists’ reception at the Mazatzal Hotel & Casino Event Center. The exhibit is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 23 and Sunday, Oct. 24. Admission is free, but guests can help support PAL programs in the schools by purchasing tickets on a raffle of works by participating artists.

ARToberFEST

The Payson Art League ARToberFEST opens from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, Oct. 22 with an artists’ reception at the Mazatzal Hotel & Casino Event Center. The exhibit is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 23 and Sunday, Oct. 24.

Senior Night at PHS

The Payson High Longhorns football team will play its last home game of the season at 7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 22. The game is dedicated to the seniors on the team and is called “Senior Night.” All seniors and their parents will be recognized at pregame ceremonies.

Additionally, the team will be recognizing Breast Cancer Awareness Month by wearing pink ribbons on their helmets.

Oct. 23 Saturday

Brush pit schedule

This coming weekend, the Regional Payson Area Project… for a Fire Wise Rim Country (RPAP) will be staffing free brush drop-off points at the following locations, weather permitting:

Saturday, Oct. 23 the Blattner Pit will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Blattner Pit is located at Milepost 259.7 on Highway 260, east of Payson.

Sunday, Oct. 24 the Pine Pit will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Pine Pit is located .7 of a mile east of Highway 87 on Control Road, south of Pine.

All RPAP free drop-off locations are for brush, leaves, pine needles, trimmings and other vegetative materials only. Properly bagged Yellow Starthistle, or other listed noxious weed species will also be accepted and will be burned. No household garbage, construction debris or other items will be accepted.

Clothing distribution

The Payson Church of Christ will have its 5th Annual Winter Clothes Giveaway from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 23 at 401 E. Tyler Parkway.

All sizes of clothing will be available.

Bird rescue program

The Payson Order of the Eastern Star will present a program from the bird rescue organization Fallen Feathers at noon, Saturday, Oct. 23 at the Masonic Hall on Rancho Road.

There will be a salad lunch served prior to the program.

Admission is $6 for adult and $3 for children, 12 and younger. Proceeds help the OES with its many programs benefitting the community.

Awakening Earth at PCSA

Awakening Earth, the eco-play by the Maya Joy Dancers, will be presented at the Payson Center for Spiritual Awareness. There will be two performances of the play: 1 p.m. and 4 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 23.

The PCSA is a non-profit spiritual center located at 107 W. Wade Lane, Suite 2, just off Highway 87 in Payson. Tickets are $10 for adults and $2 for kids 14 and under.
