When I was growing up, there was not a great deal of money and so my family taught us the difference between needs and wants. It is wonderful that Payson is in the process of getting an Arizona State University campus. That is definitely a want. However, there is a project that is critical to the town of Payson and that is building the new Humane Society shelter. That is a need.
I often take for granted the great service our Humane Society does for the citizens of Payson and
and the Rim Country. Mayor Evans, if just eight of your affluent friends were to pledge $250,000 each to the new animal shelter, they could build their facility to better serve the Rim Country. I realize that the shelter board has decided to go ahead and build a portion of the shelter now. But that building will be outgrown before it is even completed.
Let’s all work together to get the new shelter built. The Humane Society has worked long and hard to raise the funds. Let’s give them a hand and do what is right for the animals of the greater Payson area!
