With Payson’s first full-time dentist regrettably forced to slow after nearly 40 years in practice, Anderson Dental Group needed someone to step in.
Daniel “Levi” Haught joined the small, dental group recently after graduating from dental school.
Haught takes over for Scott Anderson, who started the dental practice in 1971 and recently left the office, at 712 N. Beeline Highway, due to health issues.
Scott’s son Dr. Eric J. Anderson and his staff were left to manage the practice after Anderson and fellow dentist Joseph Spear left in September.
Haught said although it is evident everyone misses Scott, he is happy to be working with such a caring group.
Haught, who is related to the pioneer Haught family, has never made his home here until now. Haught said he grew up visiting his family’s ranch in Rye and always enjoyed Payson.
When the opportunity to work with the Anderson family opened, Haught said he jumped at the chance.
Haught moved his wife and four children up from the Valley and hasn’t looked back.
Haught graduated with a doctorate in dentistry from Nova Southeastern University and holds a bachelor’s degree from Arizona State University.
Haught became interested in the field of dentistry at the suggestion of his wife’s cousin, who also works as a dentist.
“I found it to be a very rewarding and artistic field,” he said.
Along with Haught, Dr. David Barela joins the Anderson Dental Group. Barela works part-time, driving up from the Valley every Friday for appointments.
The Anderson Dental Group specializes in general, cosmetic dentistry and periodontics. They also stabilize lower dentures and do implants. For more information, call (928) 474-4581 or visit www.andersondentalonline.com.
